patricia.resende@patch.com
508-207-3165
Birthday: August 28th
Bio: Patricia Resende has always had a passion for news. Her bylines date back to her middle school newspaper and follow her through her career here at Patch. A print journalism major at Northeastern University, Patricia cut her teeth in journalism as a co-op student at The Boston Globe. Her year-long experience in the Globe's newsroom only fueled her need for reporting news. Resende jumped to Boston's other big daily, the Boston Herald before moving on to several reporting jobs at various newspapers including MetroWest Daily News, Mass High Tech and Providence Business News. After working in newsrooms and interviewing dozens of entrepreneurs, Resende embraced her own entrepreneurial spirit and helped co-found the Excellent Writers Group. Resende jumped to the other side of the fence and joined the Federal Emergency Management Agency as a research and writing specialist in external affairs. The clickety-clack of the keyboard and the ability to meet people willing to share their stories has brought Resende back to local, community news reporting as editor of Attleboro Patch. Resende is married, lives in Attleboro and has a daughter and identical twin sons.
Beliefs
At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible and human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal certain key beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable.

This disclosure is not a license for our editors to inject these beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that our beliefs are on the record will force us to be ever mindful to write, report, and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you, the user, ever think you see evidence that we failed in this mission, we wholeheartedly invite you to let us know.
Politics
How would you describe your political beliefs? I am often described as being liberal, but over the years I have voted for republicans, democrats and independents!
Are you registered with a certain party? I am a registered Democrat but that does not force my voting hand one way or another. I vote for the best candidate for the job.
Religion
How religious would you consider yourself? I pray, I attend mass and teach catechism, what do you think?
Local Hot-Button Issues
What do you think are the most important issues facing the community? One hot issue facing the community is the revitalization's of the downtown. The city has plans for revitalizing the downtown, but residents are dissatisfied with the pace of the effort.
Where do you stand on each of these issues? I have seen communities reignite their downtown or common areas. These were communities that were bustling with people, became a ghost town and were reignited but only because of a collaborative effort from municipal government, small business and residents.
