Attleboro Obituary: Phillip Eugene Webb

Phillip Eugene Webb, 78, of George Street, Attleboro, died on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the husband of Judith A. (Frigon) Webb to whom he was married on July 29, 1962.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 3, 1935, he was a son of the late Mason and Mabel (McCreedy) Webb Leary and was the stepson of the late Charles Leary.

Mr. Webb was raised and educated in Mansfield where he graduated from Mansfield High School in 1954.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served from November 26, 1954 until his honorable discharge on August 7, 1957 having achieved the rank of PVT-2.

A professional painter and wallcoverer, Mr. Webb was self-employed for more than four decades including the work he performed in countless homes and businesses in the greater Attleboro area and at his store, Webb’s Wallcoverings, South Attleboro.

He was a lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks – Lodge 1014, Attleboro; the Veterans of Foreign Wars – Post 144, Attleboro and was a former member of the former Kiwanis Club, Attleboro.

He was a devoted sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing golf.

In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters: Lori Jean McClure and Karin Lyn Echard both of Manasosos, Virginia; two grandchildren: Margaret Grace McClure and Phillip Raymond McClure both of Manasosos, Virginia; a brother: George Webb of Avon and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. He was the brother of the late William and Donna Webb.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran’s Honors on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home – the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, ¾ mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.

A ritual service conducted by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks – Lodge 1014 will be held prior to the conclusion of visitation.

Those in need of a ride to visitation may call (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for gratis transportation.

A Funeral Service with Veteran’s Honors will immediately follow visitation on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 6:00 PM in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home – the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, ¾ mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Kelly Thibeault, Pastor of the First Congregational Church – “Oldtown, Old Post Road, North Attleboro, officiating.

Children’s room available during visitation and the funeral service.

Following funeral services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the Attleboro Eks Lodge, 887 South Main Street, Attleboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Webb’s name may be made to the City of Attleboro Veterans Agent’s Office, 77 Park Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
