Attleboro Wins From the Free Throw Line! Attleboro 50 Durfee 43

Attleboro’s Kim Runey opened the scoring for the Lady Bombardiers, hitting her first shot from behind the 3 point arc!  Emily Houle followed with a hoop, giving Attleboro a 5-0 lead, before the Hilltoppers got in the scoring column.  Attleboro held leads of 8-6 (basket and free throw by Houle) and 10-6(score by Beth Clifton), before Durfee knotted the game at 10-10.  Two free throws by Clifton ended the first quarter, with the Bombardiers holding a 12-10 advantage.

A Durfee basket, in the opening minute of the second quarter, tied the score but two free throws by freshman Sarah Deyo gave the Bombardiers a 2 point lead.  Three consecutive baskets by the Hilltoppers had Durfee in the drivers seat, until a putback by Runey, free throws by Kerri Beland and Emily Houle brought the Bombardiers within three at the break, 22-19.

The second half began with a Runey score, bringing Attleboro to within 1 of the visiting Hilltoppers.  Bri LaPlume’s basket inside gave Attleboro a 23-22 lead, but Durfee came right back with a matching score.  Deyo tied the score at 26 all with the first of two free throws, the second successful attempt putting Attleboro back in front, 27-26.  The lead again changed and at the end of the third quarter Durfee was in front, 34-30.
