I don't know what was accomplished. I would think having some commercial development as a buffer between the residents and the slot barn would be a good thing. The only residential development that can go in there is multi-unit stuff which is a drain on taxes and does nothing for property values (most likely lower end multi unit stuff). No one's going to build a single family home there and it's not going to be empty land forever. I wonder if they'll do better down the road or if eventually the townspeople will have enough of it and allow something worse in there. On the other hand... I do understand that people bought their homes with the understanding that the adjacent land was zoned residential and sometimes the land owners just have to live with that.

Richard, once again then: Should it be left up to parents to decide if they want to have sex with their children? How about allowing children to drink alcohol? After all, you have stated a couple of times that the Government shouldn't tell people what they can do on/in their own property and that parents should have the right to decide what they can and can't do with their children, right?

Richard, thank you for answering but that doesn't really square with what you posted above: "Smoking is a choice and if parents are stupid enough to smoke in front their children whether it's in a car or in the house or in the backyard, it's their choice, maybe not the right one, but it's their choice." Is it their choice or isn't it their choice... with kids in the car?

Gee, what's the Gaming Commission Chairman going to say, that they're bad for the community? His comment: "...but you suck all the money you possibly can out of the surrounding community into your big, closed box." is telling and it's still very much the model today. The object is to suck all the money they possibly can out of the community, whether it's into their big closed box or something else is immaterial.
