ReplySo when my property was tagged a few years ago and the police came out and took pictures and filed my complaint there was no law on the books? It was so nice of them to come to my house and waste their time to pacify a citizen. Oh wait, there is a law about that! Ooops, my bad.

ReplyIf the committee can't come to a consensus tonight they should all be thrown out of office and they should install the PTO President's from each school in their stead to make the decisions until the next election! I am so sick of all the ugliness and fighting on this committee. We would not allow our children to behave this way towards one another, the rules for the "grown ups" should be no different!

Paul Heroux perhaps you should bring some of your common sense to the Superintendents office and School Board. The book we received home the first week of school was 50 pages of rules that my son and I had to sign and return to the school. Have you seen the bullying policy? It's huge! I still wish you'd speak to Mr. Lamore directly instead of tossing gasoline onto the fire. He's a good caring educator.

ReplyPaul Heroux, have you ever met Mr. Lamore? If you haven't, I wish you'd take time to speak with him directly before jumping on the bandwagon to persecute him. I don't agree with the decision to suspend this girl, it could easily be my son in the same place. The kids read and sign a book at the beginning of the year telling them all the rules. In these over sensitive times my kids know not to even draw a gun or knife or any other controversial thing at school because of the PC teachers and administrators. Yes, it could have been a teachable moment but the teachers aren't allowed to think for themselves. No one is allowed to just use common sense or their best judgement because under the policies of Attleboro Public Schools there is a rule for everything! It's ridiculous!

ReplyI feel badly for Mr. Lamore because he is friendly and approachable. My son is a student at Wamsutta and we have dealt with him on a few occasions. I can understand him following the zero tolerance policy set up by the Attleboro Public Schools, there is a culture of fear in dealing with Dr. Durkin and the School Board. I am not saying Mr. Lamore is afraid of Dr. Durkin but I have spoken to teachers that cringe at the thought of dealing with Dr. Durkin or having her wrath come at them. If he had not followed the policy, some kid would have gone home and told their parent and he'd be in trouble for not following the policy. It's a no win situation for him.

ReplyMost of the ice cream men last summer could barely speak English. This doesn't mean they are here illegally, just possibly too lazy to learn English. But, in the chance that they are here illegally, what will be done when that information comes back? Will they keep their jobs? Will they be housed and paid for by the same people buying the ice cream? Will it be ignored they are not legal citizens?

ReplyOne of my son's attends this school and the zero tolerance policy doesn't allow these good Principal's and Vice Principal's to use common sense. Thank the Attleboro Public Schools for not allowing them to use their own minds to make a good decision. Must follow every rule and mandate from the Superintendents office and School Committee. Both the Principal and Vice Principal are very nice common sense people, unfortunately boxed in by stupid zero tolerance rules.

This is ridiculous. Jonathan Weydt has 3 young children at home and a wife that just gave birth. Not to mention he owns his own business! How do you know if he's checking Bruins scores or getting updates from home? There are more important things going on in Attleboro than this time waster. This is hall monitor type behavior and it needs to stop immediately!
