Am sure there is much to be done before actual demo...equipment removal etc... Am sure that is underway at the moment! Agree there are many things that may cause a delay, but remain optimistic..after all this is not being overseen by school committee!

Replypaul, in interest of accuracy..please share what millions the ARA has gone through to date? While we at it perhaps you would also share how many millions (in the form of grants that were going somewhere so why not Attleboro) has the ARA brought into the city? thank you

Elsie, I am confused...WHEN have I ever written a comment that was in specific agreement with Mr. Murphy, prior to this posting? I have reviewed (albeit quickly) all previous posts and do not seem to be able to locate the "ALWAYS" to which you refer.

ReplySeems however that some school committee members have forgotten that the council can NOT add to the budget. They can only cut. Those who have concerns can request that their council person SUGGEST areas of cut (from other departments) and that these "found" funds be applied to the school department...but the Mayor is the only one that can increase the budget (or agree to increase any department). Might be more effective to petition the state to send more money for "non-academic" expenses, like bus transportation...but not to forget that APS already has a more inclusive busing program than many other parts of the state. Agree it is all cause for concern, but this is not a time to start bickering with each other or taking sides...School Committee MUST work together on this one. Mr. Murphy is on target about building relationships and avoiding highly adversarial rhetoric!

Denise, I really don't understand your comments. You seem to suggest Mr. Weydt has intellectual limitations. I can assure you he does not. He is a very intelligent and excellent Councilor. Your comments SEEM to be way off base.

ReplyMr. Denlea, You are obviously mistaken...Mr Conti made it very clear about a month ago that he goes long stretches of time without looking at his cell phone (when he denied seeing a note from former Mayor Robbins for nearly 24 hours after she sent it). As for Mr. Weydt it is probable that a few meetings ago he did have the cell phone handy...he was on new baby alert and deserves a little slack for that!!! Do agree though if cell phones must be off for the audience then they certainly should not be USED by councilors during the meeting

D-L KNEW they had a wake in process. They pick up bodies all hours of the day. They could very easily have made this a Late night pick up. Also someone must have leaked that the pick up was to occur I am sure that the helicopters were not circling over head just waiting for someone to collect the body. The mistake lies with DL in not planning its time better! This could have been accomplished in such a way as to not have interfered with the Beland wake.
