A man and a girl are struck by a pickup truck while crossing a street in Whitman. The man dies.
An Attleboro man was in custody Sunday after he allegedly struck a 38-year-old man and a young girl with his pickup truck as they crossed a street in Whitman, according to the Boston Globe and NECN. The male pedestrian, Edward Cordwell Jr., was killed and the girl, who is 4 or 5, was sent to a hospital in stable conditional with traumatic injuries. The truck driver, who was identified by the Globe as Richard C. Brown, stopped his truck after the incident, according to the police. It had not been determined if he would face charges. A 4-year-old child was sent to the hospital in Rhode Island with unknown injuries following a Saturday morning car crash on South Main Street in Attleboro, according to WPRI news in Providence. The TV station reported: Officers say their initial investigation suggests that a silver Nissan Maxima crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle, a white Nissan Altima. The child was in the Maxima. Witnesses say the child was in the front seat of the car and was not in a car seat. The crash occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. near the Seanna Road intersection, according to WPRI.

Two related vehicle crashes forced a section of Interstate 95 in Attleboro to close for nearly five hours early Sunday morning, according to ABC 6 in Providence. Two people were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the TV station reported. The first crash happened at about 1 a.m. when a southbound vehicle rear-ended another, sending a piece of tire and other debris into other lanes, Massachusetts state police told ABC 6, according to the TV station. Nobody was injured in that incident, but it led to the second crash. ABC 6 reported: Four vehicles hit the shredded tire, but none of those vehicles were damaged. A fifth vehicle, a Nissan sedan driven by a 45-year-old man, hit the tire and become disabled in the center lane…

The uninjured 92-year-old driver is not cited.
A 92-year-old man "caused a significant amount of damage" to the wall of a medical building on Emory Street in Attleboro Friday afternoon when he cashed his 2003 Dodge Caravan, Police Sgt. Arthur Brillon said. The driver, John Sojka of Rehoboth, was not injured in the crash. Brillon said the police department was contacted at 12:02 p.m. about the crash at Primary Cardiology of Attleboro. Nobody was in the building at the time. It was not determined if Sojka mistakenly hit the gas pedal when intending to step on the brake, but the crash was ruled an accident by police investigator Anthony Lofton, Brillon said. Sojka was not cited. A family member took Sojka home.

A truck trailer containing iced tea and pizza supplies collapsed at the intersection of Mill Street and Railroad Avenue in Attleboro on Tuesday morning, according to The Sun Chronicle and WPRI-TV in Providence. The incident, which happened at about 9:15 a.m., caused closures on both roads. The area was still blocked off as of 3 p.m. WPRI reported: The driver of the trailer said he was attempting to turn left under the railroad bridge when the accident happened ... Police are currently investigating.

The vehicles catch fire.
A two-vehicle crash Sunday morning between exits 1 and 2 on Southbound Interstate 95 in South Attleboro sent both vehicles off the freeway on fire, according to scanner reports. The crash happened during the 9 a.m. hour. Capt. David Hardman from the Attleboro Fire Department said the two drivers, who were not identified, were sent to a Rhode Island hospital. He did not know the extent of their injuries. WPRI TV in Providence reported that the injuries were not expected to be life-threatening. The crash slowed traffic on the freeway. There was still about a one-minute delay as of 11:10 a.m., according to WBZ Radio.

A Norfolk woman who received probation for causing a fatal crash in Wrentham six years ago is expected to appear in Attleboro District Court Monday for allegedly causing a multi-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 95 in Attleboro while under the influence of alcohol. WCVB Boston Reported: State police said at least five vehicles were involved in the crash. Police arrested Elizabeth Finnegan, 22, of Norfolk, and charged her with operating under the influence, negligent operating of a motor vehicle and unlicensed operating of a motor vehicle. Finnegan pleaded guilty in 2007 to leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury, according to the WCVB. She had struck and killed a Wrentham man in 2006, and turned herself in …

Nobody was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when an elementary school bus crashed into a vehicle in Seekonk, NBC 10 in Providence reported. The TV station states: The school bus from Martin Elementary School was turning from Luther Street onto County Street when it bumped into a car stopped at a traffic light. NBC 10 reported that although there were no serious injuries, at least two children were placed on an ambulance. The Sun Chronicle reported three children with minor injuries were sent to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence.

A 70-year-old Attleboro woman is in the hospital after her vehicle crashed into a West Street home Monday morning, The Sun Chronicle reported. The crash happened shortly before 9 a.m., according to the newspaper. An Attleboro Fire Department official told Attleboro-Seekonk Patch that the fire captain who was at the scene was not immediately available for comment.
