Study Shows Majority of Americans Now in Favor of Marijuana Legalization

Support for legalizing marijuana use rose 11 points in the last two years; and long-term attitudes among older generations has changed, the Pew Research Center finds.

A majority of Americans are supportive of legalizing marijuana, a new Pew Research Center poll revealed this week.  The findings mark the first time in four decades of polling in which more Americans showed support for legalization than not, according to NPR.  Support for legalization rose 11 points since 2010, the study revealed. What's more, the poll showed that a Gallup survey from 1969 found that a mere 12 percent favored legalizing marijuana, with 84 percent opposed.  The Pew poll was conducted between March 13-17, during which time more than 1,500 adults were surveyed. If one takes the time to research the history of WHY Hemp is illegal, they would find out a group of businessmen here in the USA, in the 30's, collaborated a BS campaign against marijuana to benefit their particular industry. Attleboro Councilors to Talk Medical Marijuana

Councilor Jay DiLisio says he wants to get the conversation started. Councilor Jonathan Weydt is also interested in the subject.

Medical marijuana, which Massachusetts voters legalized in November, makes two appearances on the agenda for tonight's Attleboro City Council meeting. The separate items, listed under "new business," are written by City Councilors Jay DiLisio and Jonathan Weydt.  DiLisio's measure states: That the council consider a resolution that would include imposing a six-month moratorium on all medical marijuana treatment centers in Attleboro, in order to afford the appropriate amount of time and study of the intricacies of the new state law. A moratorium makes no sense. I think Councilor Weydt is on the right track to at least find the appropriate location. I heard Councilor Weydt stated publicly that he voted in favor of question 3 ! Can anyone confirm this?   more ›
