Ugly Dog Books is about more than just books.
Kim Ward Storch had worked in education for more than 15 years before opening Ugly Dog Books in Attleboro. Although she is no longer working at a school, the teaching bug has stayed with her. Last year, Ward opened the book store located at 75 Union St. While big chains like Borders have closed, she's keeping her background in education alive and well at the shop. "I just wanted more to offer for the store," she said. "I wanted to have a place for people to show their creativity and get themselves noticed." Prior to opening Ugly Dog Books, Storch owned Maple Street Learn & Play Preschool & Daycare and worked in a preschool classroom. Attleboro's Kimberly Ward Storch has published Footprints in the Snow and will donate 10 percent of each book's sale to Joseph's Food Cellar.
Attleboro resident and entrepreneur can now add author and artist to her list of accomplishments. Kimberly Ward Storch just self published a new book called Footprints in the Snow and is hosting a book signing tonight at 7 p.m. "It's story that takes place on Christmas Eve about five homeless friends and one man’s journey," Storch said. Stors not only wrote the book, but she also used her photo taking talent to photograph all the photos used in the book. One exciting thing for Storch is that she plans to donate 10 percent of the each book's sale to St. Joseph's Food Cellar in memory of her father, Drew Ward who started the Food Cellar. Ward died six years ago and Storch has made it her priority to keep his name and his efforts to help …
