Buckley Qualifies for Seekonk Selectmen Race

Buckley Confirmed as Selectmen Candidate

He is the second official candidate in the contest for one seat on the Seekonk Board of Selectmen.

Paul Buckley became an official candidate Thursday afternoon in the campaign to fill the Seekonk Board of Selectmen seat made vacant last month by the resignation of Bill Rice. Buckley, who sits on the town's Board of Assessors and is the chair of the Seekonk Republican Committee, pulled papers for a potential run last month and returned them Wednesday with at least 50 signatures from registered Seekonk voters. He told Seekonk Patch he collected 70. Buckley is the second official candidate for the position. The other person is Nelson Almeida, who sits on the Parks and Recreation Committee.  Local cable talk show host Jeffrey Starr Mararian contacted the clerk's office last month saying he wanted to be a write-in candidate.
