Update 11:45 a.m. Board of Selectmen Chair Francis Cavaco contacted Patch to say his comment on Thursday that the Department of Public Works was responsible for putting the barrel on the statue was incorrect. "The information that I received was in error, and it had come from reliable sources," Cavaco said. Update 10:10 a.m. Seekonk Veterans Agent Seth Bai posted a message on Seekonk Patch taking blame for the barrel on the statue. He wrote: The D.P.W. is not to be blamed for this mishap.
