TV9's staff assists Seekonk staffers who want to highlight the town's work on air.
Town Administrator Pamela Nolan wants to highlight the day-to-day work of Seekonk's employees, so she does so through a TV9 program called “Seekonk Works.” As Seekonk's local cable access station, TV9 gives different town departments the chance to to get information to local residents on the air, in addition to the work they do with residents who want to run their own shows. Police Chief Ronald Charron's "Police Beat" show, which is temporarily on hiatus but may be brought back, was one of just several programs putting the spotlight on the town's work. The show has been on hiatus, but Ronald Charron said he's received much positive feedback from Seekonk residents.
Although TV9's "Police Beat" has been put on hiatus, Police Chief Ronald Charron said he's heard from plenty of residents about the program and is leaning toward bringing it back. “I have heard it pretty loud and clear that people are watching,” he said. Police Chief Charron had been hosting the weekly show “Police Beat” for the past six months. In addition to reviewing the arrests and crimes in town, he said he also wanted to show taxpayers where their money was going, as the police department is the second highest budgeted department after the schools. “I was hopeful that I would highlight the good work of the officers,” he said. Michael Carroll welcomes Pamela Nolan, the new town administrator starting July 17.
Town Administrator Michael Carroll will be leaving his town hall desk for good on Thursday - though he won't leave the seat unattended for long. Truro's current town administrator, Pamela Nolan, will step in on July 17. During his retirement, Carroll plans on running a business that reproduces antique clocks. He also hopes to become more involved in the Providence Preservation Society; the Wrenthan resident gives tours of the John Brown House located on Providence's historic Benefit Street. But not before a bit of cake. Town hall employees wished him well in the form of a celebratory dessert on Wednesday afternoon.
