Business Permit Modified to Allow Attleboro School Bus Parking

The Zoning Board of Appeals votes 4-0 to keep the Attleboro school buses at the Pleasant Auto Center parking lot.

Attleboro school district bus contractor H&L Bloom can continue to park its vehicles at the Pleasant Auto Center lot, the Zoning Board of Appeals determined Thursday night. When not in use, the buses have been stored there since early September, in violation of Pleasant Auto's city permit. The ZBA voted 4-0 to modify the permit to allow school bus parking. This reporter was the only person in the audience when the decision was made, which was a sharp contrast to the makeup of the room during last month's public hearing on the issue. More than half the City Council spoke at the hearing in favor of modifying the permit and praised Pleasant Auto owner Cindy Karol. City Says School Buses Must Move

The owner of Pleasant Auto Center is applying for a special permit so the school buses can be parked on her business property.

The third time might not be the charm for H&L Bloom and its quest to park the Attleboro school district buses during off-hours. The city issued a violation notice this week to Pleasant Auto Center, informing the owner Cynthia Karol that the property was not zoned for bus parking and that the 35 vehicles must be removed. Karol told Attleboro Patch on Thursday that she would apply for a special permit so the buses could stay there. The notice, which was written by Local Inspector Fred Bray, warns Karol she had 30 days to remove the buses from the location at 676 Pleasant Street.
