Former City Councilor's Criminal Trial to Start in March

Kim Allard appears in court for a preliminary hearing.

More than a year after she was indicted on two counts of larceny on an elder, former Attleboro City Councilor Kim Allard will go on trial. Prosecutor Peter Maguire and defense attorney Seth Roman agreed to start the trial March 4 during a preliminary hearing Tuesday at Fall River Superior Court. Allard is accused of taking advantage of former Probate Court Judge Edward F. Casey. The prosecution says Casey suffers from dementia and memory loss, and purchased an Attleboro home for $328,000, then deeded it to Allard for $1. She pleaded not guilty last year, just days before Election Day. Former State Rep "Not Impressed" With Candidates Advocating Higher Taxes

Bill Bowles was disappointed with comments from three candidates for Attleboro City Councilor.

To the Editor: I  saw the candidates forum last week, and was impressed that candidates were promoting local business. I was not, however, impressed that At Large City Council candidates Peter Blais, Anthony Parziale, and Kim Allard were advocating higher taxes for homeowners at a time when people are un-employed, under employed, and home foreclosures are at an all time high. Several years ago, the Chamber of Commerce testified before the City Council saying that real estate taxes are a concern, but not near the top of the list of whether a business will locate here. Robert up admit you don't know any of these people. With that said don't be so quick to judge the elder had a reason for what he did and Ms Allard had a reason. Without knowing anything except what you may have read in the paper don't be so quick to decide. There are always 2 sides to every story.
