Ralph P. Schlenker Golf Tournament Planned for Next Month

Tournament to benefit Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

The 17th annual Ralph P. Schlenker Golf Tournament, to benefit Sturdy Memorial Hospital, is planned for Monday, May 20. The golf tournament is named in recognition of Mr. Schlenker’s contributions to the Sturdy Memorial organization. This 18-hole, scramble format tournament is held on two courses – the Foxborough Country Club and the Norton Country Club – to accommodate the large number of golfers participating. The tournament begins with lunch at 12 p.m., then progresses to a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The day concludes with a cocktail hour, dinner, and awards presentation at 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Mansfield. Individual players (men and women) may participate for a donation of $300, which includes entry into the tournament, players’ gift…

Attleboro High's Murray Notches Incredible Front Nine

Three players from each high school play 18 holes of golf for the title of chapion at the Hockomock League Golf Championship Individual Competition.

The Hockomock League Individual Golf Championship was no place for a duffer.  The top three players from each high school in the Hockomock League were invited to compete individually on Thursday at the league championship held at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy.  Attleboro sophomore Ryan Murray started his round with a bang.  On his second shot on the 1st hole, a par 5, Murray knocked it stiff within 5 feet of the cup.  He missed the eagle putt, starting his day with a birdie.  After nine holes, Murray was in second place out of thirty golfers.  Despite maintaining a positive attitude, he struggled and finished the day with a 90, on the par 70 course.
