Vigil for Marathon Bombing Victims Takes Place Tonight

Here's a look at what's happening in Attleboro.

1. A candlelight vigil for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings will take place at La Salette Shrine (947 Park St.) at 7:15 p.m. It will begin after the Mass that starts at 6:30 p.m. 2. The city council will meet in committee sessions tonight. Before the sessions begin, members of the Attleboro Redevelopment Authority board will make a presentation to the council on "an update on their projects and activities and any other legal matter that may come before the council," according to the agenda. Youth Commission Fundraiser to Support HEAT

Here's a look at what's happening in Attleboro.

1. The Attleboro Youth Commission's annual fundraiser will take place Thursday at the Elks Lodge (887 South Main St.) from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Commission Chair Harry Walsh writes: It will feature a silent auction of gift baskets with gift cards and items from local businesses and a live auction of more expensive items, such as tickets to the Boston Bruins, performed by dueling auctioneers City Councilor Richard Conti and AYC member Avi Nerenberg. There will be food and drinks available at no cost. All proceeds from the auctions and all other donations will go to the HEAT Fund and the Attleboro Energy Fund to help local families who cannot afford heat for the winter. 2. Here's a look at what's happening in Attleboro.

1. The Attleboro City Council will meet in committee sessions beginning at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Go here to see the agenda. 2. Sturdy Memorial Hospital's Breathing Club, a support group for people with pulmonary ailments, will meet from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the hospital's auditorium. Daytime Snow Possible, Nighttime Snow Likely

Here's a look at what's happening in Attleboro.

1. Yes, it is spring. But it appears the snow just won't go away. The National Weather Service says there is a 30 percent chance of daytime snow and rain and a 70 percent chance of nighttime snow. The expected daytime high is 42 and nighttime low is 29. 2. Tonight marks the first night of the Jewish holiday Passover. Go here to see what Passover is all about. Schools Chief Could Be Chosen Tonight

Here's a look at what's happening in Attleboro.

1. Mike Tyler, chair of the Attleboro School Committee, told Patch he anticipates a vote on the school district superintendent selection could be made tonight, but stressed he doesn't "have a crystal ball." The school committee will meet tonight in executive session with the "intention to open in public session for possible discussion and deliberation with regard to the superintendent finalists," according to the agenda. The finalists—West Warwick Superintendent Kenneth Sheehan and New Bedford Schools administrator Anthony Azar—were interviewed earlier this month and both have toured the district campuses. 1. The Attleboro School Committee will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in Room 178E at Attleboro High School. Go here to see the agenda, which does not include selection of a superintendent. 2nd Public Hearing Tonight on 80-Unit Condo

Here's a look at what's happening in Attleboro.

1. A second public hearing will take place tonight on the proposal to build a mixed-use development, including 80 residential units and 6,615 square feet of retail, at the corner of Wall and South Main streets. This session will take place before the Zoning Board of Appeals at City Hall at 6:30 p.m. The first hearing took place March 4 before the Planning Board. Nobody spoke at the hearing who was not directly connected to the project. The project is proposed by a private developer on land currently owned by the Attleboro Redevelopment Authority.  2. Here's a look at what's happening in Attleboro.

1. The National Weather Service says Attleboro residents should prepare to get wet. The good thing (or bad thing if you like rain) is that you will get through most of the day without the rain. It is expected to start falling after 4 p.m. There is a 70 percent chance of rain after 4 p.m., and the chance goes up to 90 percent at night. The rest of the forecast calls for cloudy skies and a high near 55 during the day, patchy fog and a low near 37 at night. 2. Superintendent Candidate to Visit Attleboro

Here's a look at what's happening in Attleboro.

1. Kenneth Sheehan, one of two finalists for the school district's superintendent post, will be in Attleboro today to meet school, city and student leaders as well as tour campuses. From 4:15 p.m. to 5 p.m., he will meet parents and take questions at Attleboro High's  mini-auditorium. Sheehan's public interview with the school committee was canceled last week because of the snowstorm. It has been rescheduled for this Thursday at 7 p.m. in Attleboro High's Room 178E. 2.
