Seekonk Field Hockey Field to be Named for the Late Karen Stone

Karen Stone, who was the girls' field hockey coach at Seekonk High School, with be honored posthumously with a field bearing her name.

Last November, beloved Seekonk High School physical education teacher Karen Stone passed away at her home in Seekonk. She endured an eight-month battle with cancer. It was immediately apparent that her students, past and present, would not allow her to be forgotten. At athletic events in the subsequent months, fans and athletes could be seen sporting T-shirts with phrases and remembrances on them. Throughout their 2010-2011 season, the boys' basketball team wore warmup T-Shirts adorned with the number 1, the surname on their "jerseys" was "K Stone." A massive dodgeball tournament was held in her memory in the immediate aftermath of her passing. More than 200 people were in and out of the Seekonk High School gym that evening back in late …

Seekonk Field Hockey Loses to Bishop Stang 4-0

Warriors couldn't land a shot; lose to North Dartmouth team.

North Dartmouth's Bishop Stang defeated Seekonk 4-0 in varsity field hockey on Monday, but Seekonk's effort was considerably better than in their previous meeting with Bishop Stang, only one week prior. "They're probably the best team we face.  Very, very solid.  Good hockey.  They're very well coached," said Seekonk Head Coach Kim Pellerin.  "And last week we allowed 36 shots, this week it was only 19." Pellerin added that the defensive effort was better all around and that the team was doing more with its possessions, but not enough. Coach Karen Quintin of Bishop Stang also saw the improvement in Seekonk's game.
