Scout Collects Items for Women's Shelter

Seekonk resident Ryan Proulx needs canned food and women’s jackets for a poor and homeless women's shelter in Boston.

For his Eagle Scout service project, Ryan Prouix of Boy Scout Troop 1 Seekonk is collecting items to support Rosie's Place, a shelter for poor and homeless women located in Boston. "Besides providing food and other necessities for women, Rosie's Place also provides a safe place to live for women who do stay," Prouix wrote in an email to Attleboro-Seekonk Patch. "My goal is to collect 500 pounds of food and 30 jackets by the beginning of April." The Eagle Scout hopeful has placed collection boxes at Seekonk Public Library, Hurley Middle School, Seekonk High School and the Stop and Shop on Newman Avenue. They will remain there until April 13. Those interested in giving their items directly to Prouix can contact him at ryan.proulx94@gmail.com…

The group holds monthly dinner meetings at DiPalma Italian Table Restaurant with featured guest speakers as well as ongoing fundraisers, including a clam boil on the first Thursday of every month at the Seekonk Gun Club in Rehoboth, which draws close to 200 people.
