Greater Attleboro Celebrates Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday

The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Committee of Greater Attleboro hosted its 25th celebration of the birthday of Dr. King starting with a municipal ceremony at City Hall followed by a ceremony at the Central Congregational Church.

  The Greater Attleboro community started its Martin Luther King Jr. Day of celebration with a municipal ceremony at Attleboro City Hall featuring local politicians, and ended with an inspirational tribute to the Civil Rights leader at Central Congregational Church featuring recitations, song and inspirational speakers including Jacob K. Olupona of Harvard University. This marked Attleboro’s 25th year celebrating the life of King who was assassinated in 1968. The event was organized by The Rev. Central Congregational Church: Snap a Photo with Santa; Help Save a Life

Church offers photos with Santa in an effort to support suicide prevention program.

The Central Congregational Church is hosting photos with Santa for cause. On Saturday, December 3rd from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Santa will be available for holiday photos inside Margaret Kay Fellowship Hall at Central Congregational Church, 115 Commonwealth Ave. in Attleboro Falls. The photos with Santa event comes with a twist, as organizers are collecting a $5 donation per sitting and asking visitors to bring their own cameras to snap a photo. Why? The donations will benefit the The Trevor Project, a national organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth.
