Seekonk Public Works Head's Contract Not on BOS Agenda

Board Chair Francis Cavaco says a selectman who will not be at the meeting on Wednesday had asked for the item to be removed.

A vote by the Seekonk Board of Selectmen on whether to begin contract negotiations with Public Works Superintendent Bob Lamoureux will not take place Wednesday as originally planned . Board Chair Francis Cavaco removed the item from the agenda  prior to its publication Monday afternoon at the request of Selectman Bob McLintock, he told Seekonk Patch. "Mr. McLintock will not be attending the meeting this week," said Cavaco on Monday. "He asked me today if I could put this on the agenda when we have a full board." Lamoreux's contract expires at the end of June. He must be notified by the end of this month whether selectmen plan to renew it. The board has meetings scheduled for Dec. 12 and 19. Renewal of Seekonk Public Works Head's Contract Could Be a Fight

Supporters of Bob Lamoureux are concerned his job is in jeopardy.

The future is uncertain for Bob Lamoureux, Seekonk's superintendent of public works. The Board of Selectmen is expected to vote next week on whether to begin negotiations on renewing his contract with the town. Some supporters are concerned that a majority of the board is not interested in keeping him. Several residents contacted Seekonk Patch about the issue. They may attend next week's meeting to show support for Lamoreux. Former Selectman Bill Rice will air a tribute show for Lamoreux on TV9 today at 1 p.m. and again on Saturday at 6 p.m. "I am simply giving a voice to the many, many residents who appreciate Bob's good works and commitment to Seekonk," Rice wrote in an email to Patch.
