Porreca Qualifies for At-Large Council Race

She is the first official candidate.

Attleboro has its first official candidate in the at-large city council contest for the fall election. Attleboro Farmers Market manager Heather Porreca's nomination papers were certified Thursday, the Election's Department confirmed. "I am happy that my nomination papers have been certified and I will officially be on the ballot for city councilor at-large this fall," wrote Porreca in an email to Attleboro Patch. "I am encouraged and grateful for the support that I have received as I take the first step toward representing our community." Challengers Pull Council Nomination Papers

Heather Porreca would be running for the first time. Bert Buckley lost his bid for a seat in 2011, but looks to reverse his fortune on a second try.

There is definitely one new challenger in the contest for five at-large Attleboro City Council seats and there could be a second. Attleboro Farmers Market manager Heather Porreca and local businessman Bert Buckley pulled nomination papers this week for the fall election. A 13-year Attleboro resident, she has managed the farmers market since it started in 2011. Porreca and her husband Eddie have three children in the public school system and she is a bus driver for the district. "My focus has always been on local politics because that is where the decisions are made that affect…

Candidate's Corner

Attleboro City Council Candidate Kicks Off Campaign

Bert Buckley vyes for seat on Attleboro City Council

Wih the local election just a bit more than a month away, Bert Buckley, candidate for City Councilor at Large is working to get support from the community. The candidate held a kickoff meet and greet celebration at Elks Lodge Thursday night. The well-attended fundraiser was held to help support Buckley’s campaign for a seat on Attleboro City Council. Buckley, a long-time Attleboro resident and business owner, spent the night meeting with and answering questions from local business owners and citizens. If funding allows, Buckley hopes to hold a family outing in September to provide the same opportunity for all of the citizens of Attleboro. Buckley was raised in Attleboro, attended Hyman Fine and Peter Thacher elementary schools and played …
