A large crowd turned out Saturday night in the cold and the winter to attend the Attleboro Winter Festival.
While the gusty winds limited some of the activites, a large crowd turned out to celebrate Attleboro Winter Festival, enjoying music, dancing, learning about the Civil War, getting a chance to meet Mrs. Lincoln, enjoying food from the city's various restaurants, taking spins on a giant tobaggon, when the win allowed, and going on hayrides through the city's streets. In the cold temperatures, the bonfire, on the lawn next to the Attleboro Arts Museum, was a popular for festival goers. Events were also held at City Hall where music groups provided entertainment.

But the plan is going to take some work because it involves locating the honorees and getting permission to list their names. The idea sprung from Councilor Richard Conti, who discussed the proposal at a Municipal Council meeting Tuesday night. He said he has already talked to a person who wants to donate a plaque for that purpose. He also said Veterans Agent Carl Bradshaw is enthusiastic about carrying out the plan. “We have a donor who has come forward, and a Veterans Agent who is willing to move forward with it. I’m just asking to allow the process to evolve,” he said. But the implementation may not be as easy as it …

The Personnel and Human Services Committee approved a motion to designate Sal Pina as Special Municipal Employee.
Attleboro City Councilors yesterday voted in favor of a motion from Attleboro Mayor Kevin Dumas to appoint the city's community developer Salvador Pina, as a Special Municipal Employee. Pina, who runs the city Community Development Block Program, has been selected as one of Attleboro High School's three girls' basketball coaches. The request was first brought out for discussion a week after it was placed in the committee (three weeks ago) and many questions were asked by committee members and other councilors. Chair of the Committee, Walter Thibodeau withdrew the motion from discussion stating that he needed to do more homework on the issue, which included speaking to the City Solicitor, Robert Mangiaratti. Several people went before the …
