Seekonk Resident Achieves Eagle Scout Rank

For his Eagle Scout service project, Ryan Prouix collected items to support Rosie's Place, a shelter for poor and homeless women.

Ryan Prouix, a 17-year-old senior at , spent his late winter and early spring collecting jackets and canned food for Rosie's Place, a Boston shelter for poor and homeless women. A member of Troop 1 in Seekonk, Prouix and a crew of volunteers spent 28 hours collecting 450 pounds of non-perishable food items and 83 women's spring jackets.

Prouix's final reward for this project was achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.

"The purpose of my project was to provide much-needed food and jackets for Rosie's Place," Prouix said. "This organization has a food pantry specifically for women and their families."

For technical advice and guidance, he had the support of the outstanding leaders in Troop 1. The other Boy Scouts in the troop helped make the collection boxes and deliver the food and jackets to Boston.

"Fortunately, everyone was very helpful," Prouix said. "I am thankful and indebted to all the volunteers."
