Dirty Deeds Rocks the House to Raise Money in Memory of Attleboro Teen

AC/DC cover band "Dirty Deeds" performed at Corinne's Banquet Hall in support of a fund in Myles Brastow's name.

There was a tremendous turnout to a fundraiser concert in memory of Myles Owen Brastow, an Attleboro teen killed in a tragic motorcyle accident, on Sunday afternoon. The turnout showed the Brastow family just how much people cared about their son, who was killed in September.

“Since the accident, the support from the community has been unbelievable,” Michele Lawhorn, Brastow's aunt said. "These are high school kids coming to see how their friend's mother is doing."

The packed crowd at Corinne’s Banquet Hall on Sunday afternoon  showed just how many people were impacted by the Attleboro teen who loved hockey and hanging out with his buddies.

“There are more people than I expected,” Scott Brastow, Brastow's father said.  "It's amazing," Melissa Brastow, Brastow's mother said of the turnout.

Hockey buddies, classmates, family friends and even strangers came out in support of the Brastows, including a local motorcycle group. Vengence of Northern Rhode Island, came out to support both the band and their fellow rider.

Additionally, local businesses showed their support by donating raffle prizes, which included a wheelbarrow from Home Depot,  a large flat-screen television donated by Scott Volkswagen. Corinne's also provided the hall free of charge to the family.

“Dirty Deeds,” a Massachusetts based “AC/DC” cover band performed as a favor to the family. The band’s lead guitarist Randy Mingo has been friends with Scott Brastow since childhood. Mingo was encouraged by the large crowd, saying “It just shows how much people care.” The band intends to return ever year to perform in support of the M.O.B Memorial Fund.

The band's highly energetic performance of “AC/DC” classics such as “Back in the Black” and “Hells Bells” entertained the crowd which ranged from young children and high schoolers to adults who might remember buying “High Voltage” on vinyl.

The proceeds from the ticket sales and the raffle will go to the M.O.B Fund, which will ultimately provide scholarships of $2,500 for two graduating Attleboro High School seniors. Additionally, some funds will be used to sponsor a Pawtucket Youth Hockey Association player.

Myles was a member of the AHS hockey team and had been ice skating since he was nine. His mother said she was thankful for the outpouring of support from everyone involved with the event, which took three months to plan.

"Our family and friends have been extremely helpful and supportive," Brastow said. Lawhorn said of the show of support, "It brings tears to your eyes." Donations to the M.O.B. Memorial Fund can be sent to 45 Cathedral Drive, Attleboro, MA 02703.
