Attleboro Youth Help Seniors

Members of the Youth Commission paint the walls of the senior center.

members were at the local Senior Center last week to help with painting the walls in the main room. The young men and women came on Wednesday to do some initial painting and returned on Friday to assist with the effort by Sensata Technologies, which was painting the walls for free as part of the United Way Day of Caring.

"The AYC was there because we are always happy to lend a hand in the community and when [Attleboro Council on Aging Director Madeline McNeily] called, we were excited to help out," youth commission Chair Charlotte Kerwin told Attleboro Patch.

The commission's next project is to work with a tobacco-free campaign called the 84 (named for the statistic that 84 percent of Massachusetts teens choose not to smoke). The commission will have a tent at the on Saturday with posters and other information on the organization and what the commission wants to accomplish by being part of it.
