Hats off to Pops

Anthony "Pops" Vieira is honored for 35 years of coaching with the South Attleboro White Hawks youth football league.

It was a moment of tears and applause early Sunday afternoon at the Attleboro High School football field as the day of South Attleboro White Hawks games were interrupted to honor a legend of the league. Anthony "Tony" Vieira, affectionately known as "Pops," was recognized for his longtime commitment to the young athletes. He will retire at the end of the season after 35 years of coaching.

Vieira will be recognized again in December when he is inducted into the National Youth Football Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Florida.
