Attleboro YMCA Spin-a-Thon

The Attleboro YMCA is gearing up for its 4th annual Best Friend’s Spin-a-Thon, which will be held at the Y’s Downtown Branch on Saturday, April 9th. The Y invites all members of the community to be a part of the excitement. Because the Spinathon supports the Attleboro Y’s Best Friends Fundraising Campaign, participants make a meaningful, enduring impact on the community, while getting a great workout and having a blast at the same time.

The Best Friends Spin-a-Thon brings together teams of YMCA members, friends, and neighbors for an afternoon filled with music, raffles, fun activities, and of course, spinning. Each team consists of 10 people and two bikes, with each rider taking one hour of spin time. Each team works together to raise a cumulative total of $1,000 for the Best Friends Campaign through pledges. Last year, 19 teams participated in this fun, community event and raised more than $23,000. This year, our goal is for 25 teams to join together to ride and raise $30,000.

The Best Friends Campaign keeps the Y available for kids, adults, and families who need it most. In 2010, the Attleboro YMCA provided more than $250,000 in financial assistance and program subsidy to more than 1,700 residents from Attleboro and Norton. Last year's Spin-a-Thon played a major role in the 2010 Best Friends Campaign, which raised $180,000 to support these critical efforts.

Spin-a-Thon Day consists of much more than riding a bike! The day will begin with the Y’s annual Bench Press Competition from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Throughout the afternoon, the YMCA will offer demonstrations of popular group exercise programs, recreational events and games for the kids, plus a pickle ball tournament, free Child Watch services for spinners, and more.
