Attleboro High School Bombardiers Hit the Gym to Be Ready on the Field

The Attleboro Bombardiers have started their summer training and are looking forward to the upcoming season.

While most high school students are busy enjoying their summers on the beach, the football team is already preparing for the upcoming season. The team started their summer training on June 24, the Friday after school was out for the summer. 

Summer training consists of weight lifting, agility training, passing league and scrimmages. 

The weight room at Attleboro High School is open from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and the players are expected to be in the weight room and do their agility training on the track three nights a week.

Thursday nights the team does a seven on seven passing league, so far the team is undefeated (6 and 0) in the passing league. 

In addition to training the Bombardiers also go to camp the 24 of August. The team will be going to Dan Duquette Sports Academy in Hinsdale, MA for the eighth year in a row.

During the camp the team will start double sessions. 

Coach Deschanes said, “We are looking forward to scrimmaging Natick and Brookline at camp and Braintree and DR (Dighton-Rehoboth) on September 1 and 3. 

All of this might seem like a lot, but the players enjoy summer training. Senior Captain Brandon Mooney said, “Summer training definitely helps. Strength is half the game.”

Chris Walsh, another senior captain, said that he is looking forward to “The first game against Bishop Feehan (September 9) and being able to pass the ball because of the recievers. 

This year’s team is very senior heavy, there are 35 seniors on the roster.
