Attleboro High falls short on the ice against King Philip

King Philip skates to a 8-1 win over Attleboro High at Aleixo Arena.

The Attleboro High Bombardiers hockey team went into the locker room after the first period down a single goal and feeling like they were in the game against King Philip.

Over the next 15 minutes that feeling would disappear as the Warriors scored five goals in the second period on their way to a comprehensive 8-1 win at Aleixo Arena in Taunton Wednesday.

Zach Dragun scored the lone goal of the game for the Bombardiers on a one-timer off a great feed from Ollie Gemba, which made the score 2-1 after one period.

Gavin MacIntyre had a fantastic night for the Warriors. The junior forward scored a hat trick and was also credited with three assists. Senior Chris Boselli, who just recently returned from injury, had two goals and four points and Ryan Boselli had a goal and two assists on the night.

King Philip head coach Mark Homer was glad to have his top line playing together and credited the impact of Chris Boselli on the group.

"You can see a little bit of a surge," said Homer. "The guys have been working hard, they just needed that element to bring them over the top and with Chris coming back it was the missing piece of the puzzle."

The win was the first of the season for KP and puts them in a two-game unbeaten streak.

Meanwhile, the Bombardiers have struggled since the calendar turned to January and Attleboro head coach Mike Cripps is looking for more consistency and focus from his team.

"When we could get the puck into their zone, we could get some pressure," he said, "but trying to get it out of our zone, we throw the puck away and not cover our guys. Just not focused tonight."

Attleboro's next game is Saturday against Weston, while the same night King Philip will have a difficult task to keep its run going when they face-off against Hockomock League powerhouse Canton.
