Attleboro Defeats North Attleboro on Thanksgiving

Hilda will be in Attleboro this year.

Hilda will spend the year in the city of Attleboro.

The Attleboro Blue Bombardiers defeated the North Attleboro Red Rocketeers, 34-19 Thanksgiving morning to finish the year with a 9-2 record.

"It's a great way to end the season," Attleboro coach Mike Strachan said. "I can't say enough about our senior class and the captains."

North Attleboro didn't make it easy.

Big Blue got out to an early lead with two first quarter scores: a 34-yard touchdown run by senior quarterback Tim Walsh followed by a QB sneak after recovering an onside kick.

The Red Rocketeers stormed back, though. After falling behind 13-0, runningback Chris Hunter found his way to the endzone. After an interception on the ensuing Attleboro possession, another North drive ended with Hunter in the endzone.

As they had all season, though, the Blue Bombardiers had an answer.

In just over a minute, and with time winding down in the first half, Big Blue went on an 60 yd, 8-play scoring drive, ending with a Damon Belin touchdown.

"The offense pulled together and that was a key drive for us," Strachan said.

After Attleboro forced North to punt to start the second half, a 60-yard reception from Belin set up a Tommy Burns touchdown. Although North cut the lead to one score to start the fourth quarter, Belin found the endzone again to seal Big Blue's lead.

Belin's two touchdowns helped earn him the LG Balfour offensive player of the game.

"It's a great feeling," Belin said "...It's my first time actually getting something like this."

Defensive back Ryan Bowen earned defensive player of the game honors.
