Superintendent Job Posting Expected to Be Published in Sept.

The town should have a new schools chief in January, the school committee chair says.

Seekonk's school district superintendent search steering committee has met a few times this summer and is expected to meet again soon, Mitch Vieira, chair of the school committee told Seekonk Patch earlier this week. A notice for the job is expected to be posted in various print and online sources next month.

The community will be involved in the process, with focus groups and open house sessions taking place in the fall, Vieira said. The district should have a new superintendent in January, he said.

Former Superintendent Madeline Meyer , despite having been given . No official reason was stated for her decision to leave. Various sources familiar with the situation say the teachers union, which frequently butted heads with Meyer, was prepared to take a no confidence vote against the superintendent over allegations of plagiarism.
