Superintendent Candidate Predicts 'Small' Learning Curve

Anthony Azar speaks to parents and staff at Attleboro High School. The school committee is expected to appoint a superintendent next week.

If selected as Attleboro's next superintendent of schools, New Bedford administrator Anthony Azar said he would have a "small" learning curve to become accustomed with this city.

"The initiatives that we work on in New Bedford are here in Attleboro," said Azar, speaking Tuesday afternoon at Attleboro High in front of a small group of parents and district staff. "I work on those day to day. That's what I do, that's my job and I enjoy it immensely."

Azar, one of two finalists for the job, answered several questions from parents and staff during the one-hour session. Earlier in the day, he toured the district and met with students as well as city and school district officials. The other candidate, West Warwick Schools Superintendent Kenneth Sheehan, went through the same routine Monday.
