Seekonk School Committee to Address Vacancy

The committee is one member short following last month's resignation of David Quinn.

The Seekonk School Committee will meet tonight for the first time since member David Quinn resigned because of plans to move out of the town. A discussion about the vacancy is included on the agenda.

The decision of who will replace Quinn will be made by a joint vote of the Board of Selectmen and the school committee. Mitch Vieira, school committee chair, said at last week's selectmen meeting that the decision should be made Dec. 12 or 19. He said he planned to post a notice on the school district's website requesting applications.

Quinn's replacement would finish his term, which ends in April. That seat and the one occupied by Fran Creamer are up for renewal in next spring's town election.
