Michael Tyler is running for an at large seat on the Attleboro School Committee after previously serving two years as the representative from Ward 6 from 2007-2009. Tyler was defeated by Bruce Levine in the November 2009 election and by current representativein a 2010 special election following Levine’s resignation.
Tyler has been resident of Attleboro for 16 years, and currently works as a construction supervisor an engineer. He also has two children in the school system, one in grade 3 and one in kindergarten.

“I have a vested interested,” Tyler said about his reason for reelection.
Offerings
Tyler said his previous experience on the school committee gives him working knowledge of the financial aspects of serving on the school committee.
Tyler’s also said that having served on the committee before he knows how to work well with others and work within the committee.
“I demand accountability, but it has to be done with respect,” Tyler said, speaking on the need to be constructive criticism on the committee.
“It’s very tough. You have nine people, you can’t expect them all to agree.”
Issues That Matter
Tyler believes the continued improvement of to be a key issue for the school committee. The school has been improving recently in its test scores and graduation rates, but Tyler said “We need to find ways to build upon past achievements.”
Additionally, Tyler was not pleased with how the communication of an atwas handled.
“The ball was totally dropped,” Tyler said. “One of the main things we ask parents to do is to be active participants and they need to be informed.”
Tyler was also in support of the new that parents have been raising money for. Tyler said it is important for the school system to change depending on what the students are interested in.
