Hurley Flag Not Lowered Due to Mechanical Failure

The flagpole has been dismantled so it can be repaired.

American flags have been at half-staff since Friday and will remain that way until Tuesday at sundown to honor the memory of the Connecticut school shooting victims. The one at Hurley Middle School in Seekonk did not go down, but it was not due to an oversight, school district Interim Superintendent Arlene Bosco told Seekonk Patch.

"We have had a mechanical problem with the flagpole at Hurley Middle School," she wrote in an email. "The lowering of the flag was not an oversight. [Building and Grounds Supervisor] Jim Roy and members of his staff have dismantled the flagpole this morning in order to make the necessary repairs."
