GBCA Students Perform Well at Statewide Academic, Fine Arts Competition

Grace Baptist Christian Academy of Attleboro students had a strong showing at the 2012 Music, Art and Academic Testing Competition.

 

Students representing Grace Baptist Christian Academy of Attleboro fared well recently during the 2012 Music, Art and Academic Testing Competition sponsored by the Massachusetts Association of Christian Schools at Open Bible Academy in Burlington.

According to Toni Watson, GBCA’s faculty advisor for the competition, students from seven MACS-affiliated schools in the state participated in the annual event. GBCA’s delegation – which included elementary school, middle school and high school students – produced an overall third-place finish in the competition.

GBCA students Jarod Bissonnette, Emmalie Yoakum, Abby Silva, Olivia Beals, Kerrin Maione, Isaac Bryden, Darlene Murray, Rachael Spader and Evan Tyrol all produced first-place finishes in the Music competition, while Giana Bigelow and Murray topped the field in separate events in the Art category. In Academic Testing, Tyrol and Maione came in first in separate assessments.

GBCA’s junior high Small Vocal Ensemble and Large Vocal Ensemble as well as its elementary school Choral Group also placed first.

Collecting second-place awards for GBCA in Music were Murray, Chelsea Oliveira, Bryden, Ashley Moraes, Rachel Nichols and Yoakum along with its high school Large Vocal Ensemble and Choral Group. Moraes added a second-place performance in Art as did Alexander Russell and Bryden in Academic Testing.

Earing third-place honors for GBCA were Nichols, Maione and Marissa Plath in Music; Moraes and Nichols in Art; and Tyler McGee in Academic Testing.

“All of our students worked hard for their competition and we’re very proud of their achievements,” Watson said.
