Bishop Feehan Students National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists

Attleboro's Chad Benoit is a semifinalists in the 2012 Competition for National Merit Scholarships.

Bishop Feehan High School recently announced that four students were named as finalists in the 2012 Competition for National Merit Scholarships.

Chad Benoit (Attleboro), Lindsey Claus (Mansfield), John Garbuzinski (North Attleboro), and David Stewart (Attleboro) met all requirements as semifinalist, advanced to finalist standing, received a Certificate of Merit, and have earned the Merit Scholar title.

To become a finalist, a semifinalist must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by the high school principal, and earn SAT scores that confirm the student’s earlier performance on the qualifying test.

The semifinalist and a high school official must submit a detailed scholarship application, which includes the student’s essay and information about the semifinalist’s participation and leadership in school and community activities.

Out of the 15,000 finalists from across the US, 8,400 Merit Scholarship winners will be chosen and notified in March 2012.
