Bishop Feehan High School to Hold Memorial Meet for Former Track Star

graduate Kristen Ettensohn was in medical school when she was diagnosed with cancer. The 2001 Feehan graduate was a track star at the Attleboro High School where she held the record in the mile and two mile events. After Feehan, she continued to hit the pavement at Dartmouth College.

Not long after Dartmout,h Ettensohn and her family heard the horrible dianosis. The otherwise healthy track star fought her battle with cancer, but lost in July 2010.

This year, members of the Bishop Feehan Track and Field community have scheduled their annual "A-L’Homme-Ni Meet” in Ettensohn's memory.

"It's for a great cause," said Feehan Track Coach Bob L'Homme. "Kristen Ettensohn epitomized the three leafs of the Feehan shamrock, which are sanctity, scholarship and sportsmanship."

L'Homme said the meet is intended to honor Ettensohn's memory and her contributions to the Feehan community.

"At this point we have over 110 former Feehan cross country track and field athletes attending," he noted.

The meet, scheduled for Saturday, July 16, with a rain date of Sunday, July 17, will begin at 9 a.m. with a non-competitive, 2.9 mile cross- country race around the Bishop Feehan campus. Track and Field events will begin at 10 a.m.

The meet committee has asked that the entire Feehan track and field community participate, whether they are young or old, competitive or non-competitive.

A cookout will follow the memorial meet and will feature a kids-only 100-meter fun run, a bouncy house, face painting and other activities. 

There is no official entry fee for the event, but organizers are seeking any and all donations to support various causes including the Kristen Ettensohn Memorial Scholarship.
