Attleboro Whiz Kid: Chad Benoit a Scholastic, Athletic, Sacred and Civic Leader

Love of Feehan, family and friends drives high school senior to success.

  • Name: Chad Benoit
  • Age: 17
  • Grade: Senior
  • School: Bishop Feehan High School

Adorned with the seal from the College of the Holy Cross, senior, Chad Benoit accepted the College of the Holy Cross Book Award at the high school’s recent Awards Night. Benoit was presented with a boxed set of a Collegiate Merriam Webster Dictionary and Thesaurus. Feehan teacher, Brian Crossen who is an alumnus of the College, sponsored the book award.

Benoit wisely divides his time scholastically, athletically, sacredly, and civically.

Ranked in the top 10 percent of his class, Honors I and Advanced Placement classes challenge him and keep him diligent. He has consistently maintained honor roll status and will be president of the Mercy Chapter of the National Honor Society next year. Benoit is a member off five additional honor societies: French, where he holds the presidential leadership position, science where he is the vice-president, history, English and math.

Expressing his love for Feehan and fellow classmates is an important part of Benoit’s high school career. As upcoming Bishop Feehan Student Council President and writer for the student newspaper, he is looking forward to getting together with his classmates and peers to help give everyone a great high school experience.

Benoit is also a member of Feehan’s successful cross country team.

“I love running cross country because you’re not only running against members of the other team, but you are always competing with yourself,” Benoit said. “There is always room for improvement. Cross country is a very demanding sport, but your hard work at practice can really pay off.”

St. Theresa of the Child Jesus in South Attleboro is Benoit’s parish. He is actively involved there where he assists in religious education classes for the younger children.

With friends, Benoit also contributes food, fellowship and fun to residents of Cumberland’s House of Compassion. For these HIV and AIDS patients, home-cooked meals, pizza nights out and entertaining times at Feehan musicals offer much needed nutrition and love.

Benoit is also involved in the Feehan Saint Vincent De Paul Society where he helps provide Christmas toys during the holidays and year-round free clothing to families in the Attleboro area.

As a member of Boy Scout Troop 1 of South Attleboro, Benoit is in the process of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. For his Eagle Scout Leadership project, he will be improving the landscaping at the House of Compassion. This gracious act of service will help beautify the lives of the residents there.

Trying to do his very best is Benoit’s key to success. “I love Feehan and my friends and family, and that just makes working hard so much easier and more rewarding. They are the people that make me want to keep working hard and giving everything my all.”
