Attleboro High Graduation Ceremony Moved Inside

The ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. in the large gymnasium. Each graduating student is limited to two tickets.

Due to the impending storm, Attleboro High School Principal Bill Runey sent an email to the Class of 2013 and families Thursday informing them that Friday's graduation ceremony will take place inside.

The result will be limited seating for students' family members.

Each student will be allowed two tickets.

Below is Runey's full letter:

Dear AHS Class of 2013 and Families,

Due to concerns about safety and the ability to have a meaningful ceremony to celebrate our graduates, I am moving the ceremony to the Large Gym. Wet grounds, damp bleachers, and potential rain pose obstacles to an enjoyable evening and will ruin photo opportunities for a momentous occasion.  Also, making the decision at this time allows us to save a considerable sum of money with the rental company.

I know that this will be disappointing to some families. Please know that we intentionally delayed construction on the stadium to have the option of an outside Graduation. Unfortunately, I will not risk safety of attendees nor will I have the conditions dampen our ceremony.

Very important specifics:

 *   The ceremony will be streamed LIVE on the DoubleACS channel on YouTube – http://www.youtube.com/user/DoubleACS  Please note that we are not responsible for any technical difficulties.
 *   We have arranged to have the ceremony broadcast LIVE on Cable Channel 9. Relatives who cannot attend may view from your home in Attleboro.
 *   The Bray Auditorium will have the LIVE simulcast. No tickets are required.
 *   Entry into the Large Gym will be by ticket only. There will be no exceptions. The doors will not open until 5pm.

Thank you, in advance, for your understanding. As you can imagine, this was a difficult decision.

I look forward to celebrating the evening with you!

In the strongest sense of Blue Pride, I remain,

Bill Runey

Principal
