Attleboro High Falls to Bishop Feehan

The Shamrocks win the battle of Attleboro.

Attleboro's two high schools met in a girls varsity basketball game Monday, and it was Bishop Feehan that claimed the victory over Attleboro High School. The final score was 56-34.

Feehan's Sierra Schrader opened the scoring with a drive to the basket, but a reverse layup by Attleboro's Beth Clifton tied the score. The teams exchanged baskets, with Clifton hitting again and Kerri Beland knotting the score at six all.  From there on, the Shamrocks never relinquished the lead and were on top 19-8 at the end of the first quarter.

With Attleboro being outscored 18-7 in the second stanza, Feehan took a comfortable 37-15 lead into the locker room.

Emily Houle opened the scoring for the Bombardiers in the third quarter and Kim Runey, fouled on a three-point attempt, knocked down her free throws.  Clifton was fouled on a successful drive to the hoop and hit her shot from behind the stripe, bringing Attleboro to within 18 of the lead. A mini-run by the Shamrocks ended the quarter 48-23.

The aggressive defense of the Shamrocks and shooting of Schrader, Cara Adams and Maddie Jolin proved more than the Bombardiers could handle. Clifton led the Bombardier in scoring with nine points, followed by Beland and Runey with seven apiece. Houle pulled down seven rebounds.

Feehan coach Mike Deady and captains Schrader and Adams acknowledged Attleboro senior captain Bri Hochwarter, who has sat out two seasons with torn ACLs.

With an 11-10 record the Bombardiers closed out the regular season on Wednesday with a home game against Durfee. Look for coverage of that game soon.
