Attleboro High Athletes Earn Letter Jackets

The Attleboro Varsity Booster Club donates the jackets.

The Attleboro Varsity Booster Club on Monday recognized 50 fall sports athletes who earned their varsity letter jackets during a ceremony at Attleboro High School's Robert H. Bray Auditorium. These personalized jackets, valued at nearly 150 dollars each, are donated by the AVBC to recognize Blue Pride.

The AVBC is an independent group of friends and family who help to support all sports at Attleboro High by distributing more than 120 varsity letter jackets annually, awarding 4 Book Awards Scholarships totaling 2,000 dollars to graduating seniors, purchasing all championship banners and donating funds to purchase the needed items for AHS athletic teams. Membership dues, donations and participation help guarantee the continuation of this long-standing tradition.

Volunteers are always welcome to the AVBC at meetings the first Wednesday of each month (September through June) at 7 p.m. in room 170 D of the Attleboro gym. Assistance will be critical in the next year as AHS partners with the city of Attleboro in the renovation of the stadium at Tozier-Cassidy Field.

The Monday night program featured AVBC President Erin Croteau, Principal Bill Runey and Athletics Director Mark Houle as well as coaches from soccer, football, field hockey, golf, cheerleading, volleyball and cross country. Jackets were presented by AVBC Board members Scott Scales, Anne Marie Murray, Steven Oliver, Shirley Roderick and John Croteau.
