School committee sign theft

I have been very disturbed with the recent theft of my yard signs for my run for School Committee. First of all, why do people think that it's perfectly fine to walk onto someone property and remove an item without discussing it with the homeowner? I had to ask each homeowner for their permission to place my signs there.  Do they realize this is theft? Secondly,   I am a new candidate for school committee and I want to do this for the children, not to have a public face in the city to be a politician. In order to get your name out there, I need signs. I don't have donations for publicity, I bought these on my own.
How could I have made such enemies? It is still a few months to the election and we have not even had a debate yet. Whoever is stealing the signs should review the School Committee ethics on the school website. We should not be "playing politics" and I think it goes without saying that stealing signs is playing politics.  I am not even running for city council or the President of the United States, just for school committee. I am ready to do the work but it should be a fair election.
If you stole the signs, please replace them, no questions asked.
If you have a problem with where I put them or with my running, please contact me so we can discuss.
Thank you.
