What is Funded Under This Year's Attleboro Capital Improvements Plan?
A DPW "clamshell" and technology for the schools are the largest line items.
The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to appropriate $1,162,549.79 towards this year's Capital Improvements Projects.
Departments benefitting from the plan include police, fire, the recreation department and the Attleboro School Dept.
"This year's funding enables multi-year projects to continue such as police handheld radio replacement, fire protective gear replacement, and fencing for our recreation areas," Mayor Kevin Dumas wrote in his request to the council.
The two highest-priced items include a $183,573 Department of Public Works "clamshell" and $128,328 towards school technology.
"..I have kept my promise of embarking on the path of improving school technology by funding the first phase of computer lab upgrades across the entire school district," Dumas wrote.
The upgraded technology is expected to benefit Attleboro schools when the state switches to computerized testing to replace the current MCAS exams.
