Seekonk Chief Will Make Call on 'Police Beat' in February

The show has been on hiatus, but Ronald Charron said he's received much positive feedback from Seekonk residents.

Although 's "Police Beat" has been put on hiatus, Police Chief Ronald Charron said he's heard from plenty of residents about the program and is leaning toward bringing it back.

“I have heard it pretty loud and clear that people are watching,” he said.

Police Chief Charron had been hosting the weekly show “Police Beat” for the past six months. In addition to reviewing the arrests and crimes in town, he said he also wanted to show taxpayers where their money was going, as the police department is the second highest budgeted department after the schools.

“I was hopeful that I would highlight the good work of the officers,” he said. 

Chief Charron said he put the show on hold for at least this month because it was a lot of work and he wasn’t sure if his message was actually getting out there.

However, he said he has received a number of and phone calls regarding the program. In a letter published on Jan. 4 on Patch, Braintree police officer Paul Dowd shared . Users also expressed support, including , who wrote: "Chief Charron did a good job of presenting the realities of the SPD, and when necessary to take a moment to praise a patrolman for a job well done."

Chief Charron said he will make a final decision about bringing the program back in February.
