Town Clerk Named Unsung Hero at Statehouse

Jan Parker, Seekonk's town clerk, was given an award for her work in the town.

Most know Jan Parker from behind a Plexiglas window in Peck Street's town hall.

The town clerk manages town records, handles administrative duties, and is a general information base on all things Seekonk. She's even certified to marry couples.

In addition to running town operations, Parker founded Seekonk's Save-a-Pet to help support the animal shelter that's always in need of food and volunteers. A couple years ago, she helped facilitate a project to send care packages to troops deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. She's instrumental in leading the town's 200th anniversary celebration.
