Town Administrator Celebrates Final Week With Cake and a Smile

Michael Carroll welcomes Pamela Nolan, the new town administrator starting July 17.

Town Administrator Michael Carroll will be leaving his town hall desk  for good on Thursday - though he won't leave the seat unattended for long. Truro's current town administrator, Pamela Nolan, will step in on July 17.

During his retirement, Carroll plans on running a business that reproduces antique clocks. He also hopes to become more involved in the Providence Preservation Society; the Wrenthan resident gives tours of the John Brown House located on Providence's historic Benefit Street.

But not before a bit of cake. Town hall employees wished him well in the form of a celebratory dessert on Wednesday afternoon. He also met with his replacement to show her the ins and outs of the job.

Amid the stacks of paperwork, Carroll motioned to a box of files reserved for Pamela Nolan's first day. They contain high priority documents concerning agreements with the call firefighters, a final contract with a vendor evaluating town buildings, various personnel issues and negotiations with the Seekonk Wampanoag Tribe to utilize the old town hall.

According to Carroll, Nolan will be a busy lady. There are seven collective bargaining agreements to deal with - just one of the items on her to-do list.

But she has a wide array of skill sets developed with  in Massachusetts and Rhode Island communities.

Nolan plans on keeping Seekonk's budget in the black, noting the town is in a strong financial position and has a good bond rating.

"I'd like to keep the taxes down and keep the services. That's a major challenge for any city or town operating today," she said in Carroll's office.
