Seekonk Memorial Day Parade to March on Monday

According to Veterans Agent Seth Bai, the parade will start at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 30.

Get out the red, white and blue, and don't forget the lawn chairs. Seekonk's annual Memorial Day Parade is scheduled to be held on Monday, May 30, the recognized holiday.

Those partaking in the march will congregate at 9 a.m. Younger participants like the Girl Scouts, mentioned Bai, will meet up with the parade at the second stop.

"The little walkers start at Aitken [Elementary School]," Bai said.

To barricade the roads for the celebration, officers and parade committee members will detour traffic.

After the parade's conclusion, Bai will name a winner of the Pin Design Contest, a competition between high school and middle school students to create the most spirited Memorial Day pin. So far, about two dozen entries have been submitted, said Bai.

A ceremony to honor Al George, who was known as Seekonk's Most Distinguished veteran until he passed away months ago, will be held in June, according to Bai.
