A Swath of Items Await Public at Town Auction

Taggers catalogue auction inventory including tech equipment, sewing machines and police vehicles.

Hiding in the back lots of the Department of Public Works, a land of the misfit items wait to be scooped up by new owners during Saturday's .

Crown Victorias sheltering deployed airbags long to hit the open road. A wooden piano lies yearns to be played by nimble hands. Among rows of projectors, a lone Globe slowly spins. 

According to auctioneer Steven Medeiros, the array of construction equipment, educational supplies and vehicles are typical of a town auction. He thinks most of the items no longer used by town offices and schools will be scrapped. But there are some treasures to be found.

"There are always diamonds in the rough," Medeiros said while taggers inspected goods lined up along Department of Public Works storage facilities.
