Officials Warn Locals Not to Drive Under Live Wires, Falling Trees

Cones and detours are meant to keep vehicles safe while the town cleanup continues.

Department of Public Works Superintendent Bob Lamoureux has a message for drivers: heed the cones.

While workers are freeing wires and chipping wood debris, some trees are still precariously suspended on power lines. It's risky for drivers to travel underneath. And though small road detours have alerted drivers of the dangling refuse, some drivers seem to not be paying attention.

"People are putting themselves at risk ... The tree can possibly come down," he said.

"I was amazed at how many people were driving around on Sunday," he said.
